old post: v-day

it's v-day this weekend...

i don't really remember it as v-day but as my Dad's birthday - and probably the only reason i celebrate it annually.

there are of course a multitude of reasons to celebrate or not celebrate valentine's - it depends which side you're playing for... as someone who's been on both sides, there really isn't much of a difference.

there are those who would say v-day is just another day to highlight the fact that someone is not in a relationship - singles awareness campaign ba - but then again, why can't single or unattached people celebrate v-day? it's a day to celebrate love, after all. and love comes in many forms. i guess, it's really the commercial make-up of society that shuns those who are not part of a "couple" during v-day.

well, i think v-day is worth celebrating whether you're unattached or part of a "couple" - love is love after all... and just like Christmas, everyday should be like v-day anyway.

me... i've yet to find another reason why i should treat v-day as anything other than another day to eat good food and laugh with people who matter... until then... ♥
